Recap: Monroe Redhawks vs. Parkwood Wolf Pack
The Monroe Redhawks's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over Parkwood. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 19 to 11 on the offensive boards, as Monroe did.
It was another big night for Saniya Gingham, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya Wallace, who scored 18 points along with seven steals.
Parkwood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Katrina Meyre, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Madison Owen, who scored four points along with six assists and five steals.
Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. As for Parkwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.
Monroe will be playing at home against Weddington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Weddington is coming into the contest with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Monroe will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Parkwood, they will square off against Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
