Recap: College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals vs. GRACE Christian Eagles

This season hasn't been kind to the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals, who are still winless after their ninth game. They fell 47-36 to GRACE Christian on Saturday. While losing is never fun, College Prep & Leadership Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 600th, while GRACE Christian is ranked 298th).

College Prep & Leadership Academy's loss came despite strong showings from MacKenzie Dumbuya and Melissa Massenat. Dumbuya scored 11 points along with three steals, while Massenat scored 11 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Massenat has scored all season. Da?nysa Holloway was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.

College Prep & Leadership Academy bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.6 points per game. As for GRACE Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. College Prep & Leadership Academy will challenge Page at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Page focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for GRACE Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Trinity Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
