Softball Game Preview: Hillcrest Knights vs. Pocatello Thunder

Hillcrest hasn't had much luck against Pocatello recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hillcrest will bounce into Monday's game after beating Idaho Falls, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-4 win on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pocatello ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Blackfoot 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kate Jolley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Pocatello has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
