Basketball Game Preview: Luella Lions vs. Cedar Grove Saints

The Luella Lions will square off against the Cedar Grove Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Luella's favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Cedar Grove has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Luella is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Cedar Grove: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Luella blew Cedar Grove out of the water with an 81-33 final score. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Luella to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skye Hunter, who went 9 for 16 on her way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Hunter a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilani Ward, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten assists.

Luella smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Cedar Grove's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Luella, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.
