Soccer Game Preview: Valhalla vs. Santana

The Valhalla Norsemen will venture away from home to face off against the Santana Sultans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Valhalla managed to keep up with Monte Vista until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Valhalla came up short against Monte Vista, falling 4-1. The Norsemen haven't had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Santana didn't have quite enough to beat Helix on Friday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Sultans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 601st, while the Highlanders are ranked 72nd).

Santana's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-3. As for Valhalla, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-3.

Valhalla beat Santana 3-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valhalla since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
