Basketball Recap: Enka Falls Despite Big Games from Hyatt Middleton and Lawson Mcclure

Enka was the 95-60 winner over Mitchell when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Enka Jets lost 78-53 to the Mitchell Mountaineers on Monday. The Jets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-26.

Lawson Mcclure and Hyatt Middleton certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Mcclure posted nine points and three steals, while Middleton had seven points. Isaiah Phillips was another key player, putting up five points.

Enka has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Mitchell, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Enka will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Mitchell will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Draughn at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Mitchell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Draughn likes a good challenge.
