Soccer Game Preview: Prairie View vs. Riverdale Ridge

Prairie View is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They will look to defend their home pitch against the Riverdale Ridge Ravens at 7:00 p.m.

Prairie View is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Erie on Tuesday. The Thunderhawks fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Prairie View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Erie are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Riverdale Ridge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three last Tuesday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Falcons.

Riverdale Ridge hit Skyline with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Trinity Abeyta, Brie Hilliker, and Abby Hawkins.

Riverdale Ridge pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three games. As for Prairie View, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Prairie View came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverdale Ridge when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Thunderhawks repeat their success, or do the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
