League recap: Mountain Range extends winning streak with victory over Rocky Mountain

5A Front Range recap October 22, 2013

Mountain Range extended the longest winning streak in 5A Front Range this week by beating Rocky Mountain, 22-16. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mustangs.

Mountain Range was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Lobos. Bryan Davey's team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 37 last week.

Cody Limmer threw for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 21-33 with 2 interceptions.

Kyle Dunbabin was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs topped Rocky Mountain. Dunbabin tallied 6 receptions for 146 yards. Elijah Gillespie helped Mountain Range's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 51 yards.

6-foot-4 quarterback Limmer of Poudre is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,477. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dunbabin. The Mountain Range star has 26 catches for 563 yards.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Impalas and Mountain Range face off next week.

The Mustangs are in first place, while Poudre is in third place.

Fort Collins and Horizon played the most contested game in 5A Front Range this week, with Fort Collins eventually emerging with a 9-7 victory. Langston Stuckey ran for 93 yards and caught 2 passes for 18 yards in the win.
