Southwest Prairie recap Oct. 3, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Plainfield South, who took down 89th ranked Minooka, 14-10.

Plainfield North extended the longest winning streak in Southwest Prairie this week by beating Romeoville, 55-23. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.

Oswego's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Steven Frank threw for 63 and one touchdown and Mickeel Stewart had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Stewart chipped in 180 yards. Jack Kwiatkowski helped Oswego's passing attack out by catching three balls for 32 yards.

Oswego's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brett Wainwright has thrown for 601 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Kwiatkowski has 17 catches for 374 yards. Stewart leads the league in rushing with 710 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Plainfield North takes on second place Oswego. Last week, Plainfield North defeated the Spartans, while the Panthers topped Plainfield East.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Oswego takes on Tim Kane's team. Brian Cooney's team has allowed 111 points this season, while the Tigers have given up 85. The Panthers allowed 7 points last week as they bested the Bengals.

The Cougars moved up to 179 from 222 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southwest Prairie. A 14-10 win over the Indians helped Plainfield South improve its standing.
