Basketball Recap: Wayne Academy Comes Up Short

Wayne Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Leake Academy Rebels, falling 74-31. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Rebels are ranked third).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leake Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sarah Prince, who went 7 for 12 en route to 17 points and four steals. That's the most points Prince has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jenna Allen, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Wayne Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Leake Academy, their win bumped their record up to 26-1.

Wayne Academy has already played their next game (against East Rankin Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Leake Academy has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Newton.
