Basketball Preview: Santa Fe Trail Chargers vs. Prairie View Buffalos
Santa Fe Trail is 10-0 against the Buffalos since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Santa Fe Trail Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the Prairie View Buffalos at 4:30 p.m. Prairie View took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Santa Fe Trail, who comes in off a win.
Even though Iola scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Santa Fe Trail still came out on top. Santa Fe Trail skirted past the Mustangs 63-61.
Meanwhile, Prairie View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-17 loss at the hands of Wellsville. While losing is never fun, Prairie View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Eagles are ranked 76th).
Santa Fe Trail's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Prairie View, they dropped their record down to 2-10-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Santa Fe Trail against the Buffalos in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 60-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Fe Trail since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
