Basketball Recap: Bethel Christian Comes Up Short

Bethel Christian entered their game against Calvary Baptist on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bethel Christian Kings were beaten by the Calvary Baptist Cougars 79-38. The contest marked the Kings' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Bethel Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Kyababchian, who posted ten points and four steals. Alakai Farley was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bethel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Calvary Baptist found their leader in sophomore Medard Dabire, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Malual, who went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points.

Bethel Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Calvary Baptist, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Bethel Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-25 win against Norton Science & Language Academy on the 23rd. As for Calvary Baptist, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-26 victory against The Grove School on the 23rd.
