Basketball Recap: Covenant Christian Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Covenant Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 47-42 victory over the Prince of Peace Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 46-36 defeat.

Covenant Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from AJ Guerra, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Guerra has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Wallace, who posted 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Covenant Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Covenant Christian pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Prince of Peace, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 15-16 record.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Covenant Christian Cougars take on the Pantego Christian Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pantego Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. Prince of Peace does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
