Baseball Game Preview: Linn-Mar Lions vs. Iowa City Little Hawks

The Linn-Mar Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Iowa City Little Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Linn-Mar can't be too worried about heading out to take on Iowa City: they just beat Cedar Falls at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Lions walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Tigers on Friday. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 14, 2024.

Meanwhile, Iowa City waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Little Hawks, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Iowa City pushed their record up to 28-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Linn-Mar, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.

Linn-Mar couldn't quite get it done against Iowa City in their previous matchup back in May as they fell 5-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
