Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Calhoun City's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calhoun City had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the O'Bannon Greenwaves a 20-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Madison Buckley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 13 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Justiyah Pittman, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Calhoun City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive games.

Calhoun City is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for O'Bannon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Coming up, Calhoun City will face off against Union at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. O'Bannon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
