Basketball Game Preview: Iona Prep Gaels vs. Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders

The Iona Prep Gaels will head out to square off against the Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Iona Prep is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Jackson-Reed just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Sunday. They took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The loss was the Gaels' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Scanlan also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Christ the King by a score of 87-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (67), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Having lost for the first time this season, Iona Prep fell to 3-1. As for Monsignor Scanlan, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.

Iona Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Monsignor Scanlan in their previous matchup back in February, winning 62-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Iona Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
