Softball Recap: Morris Comes Up Short

Morris has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.95 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers. It was the first time this season that the Redskins let down their fans at home.

Morris saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylie Hughes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Hughes has hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Morris and nudges their season record down to 15-6. As for LaSalle-Peru, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 22-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morris will take on Manteno at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Redskins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for LaSalle-Peru, they will square off against Alleman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Cavaliers' favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home while the Pioneers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
