Baseball Game Preview: Simpson Academy Cougars vs. Lamar Raiders

For the second straight game, Simpson Academy will face off against Lamar. The Cougars will host the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Simpson Academy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Simpson Academy turned things around against Lamar on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Raiders.

The team relied heavily on Barrett McKenney, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chase Adcock, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

McKenney wasn't the only one making solid contact: Simpson Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The Cougars are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lamar moved to 19-6-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Simpson Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
