Softball Recap: Sparks Takes a Loss

Sparks was the 6-3 winner over South Tahoe when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Railroaders lost 25-8 to the Vikings on Friday.

Itxaly Rivera led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Liliana Pimentel Espana, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Sparks' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-6. As for South Tahoe, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparks will square off against Wooster at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Tahoe, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Valleys at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th.
