Soccer Recap: Wharton Takes a Loss

Wharton lost against El Campo back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wharton Tigers lost 11-0 to the El Campo Ricebirds. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 804th, while the Ricebirds are ranked 379th).

Wharton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for El Campo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Wharton will host Calhoun at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for El Campo, they are taking a road trip to take on Palacios at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. El Campo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4 goals per game this season.
