Football Recap: Sedgwick County Falls Short of Haxtun in the Playoffs + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sedgwick County can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 42-6 loss at the hands of the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Sedgwick County lost on Saturday, don't look at Owen Harris. Despite the final result, he rushed for 141 yards and one TD. Harris' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 141 rushing yards.

Colin Cone produced another solid performance rushing for 122 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 144 yards and one touchdown on only eight passes for Haxtun. That's the most passing yards Cone has posted since back in September of 2024. Zach Statz was another key player, rushing for 142 yards and one TD.

Sedgwick County dropped their record down to 5-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Haxtun, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Sedgwick County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Haxtun, they will take on McClave at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Fightin' Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten matchups.
