Football Recap: Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Skates Past Lutheran-Northeast with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laurel-Concord-Coleridge). They claimed a resounding 56-12 win over the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles on Friday, too.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tanner Thompson led the charge by rushing for 157 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Thompson's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Drey Puppe, who rushed for 99 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Puppe and Talon Carson.

The victory got Laurel-Concord-Coleridge back to even at 2-2. As for Lutheran-Northeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
