Softball Recap: McKinley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Liberty on Thursday, McKinley came back down to earth. The Red Dragons came up short against the South Range Raiders on Friday, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in April.

McKinley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julie Burke, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Abigail Noland was another, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases.

The defeat snapped McKinley's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-13 record. As for South Range, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Looking ahead, McKinley will head out to face off against Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.47 runs per game on average), something the Red Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Range, they will host Hoover at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
