Softball Game Preview: Kennewick Lions vs. University Titans

The Kennewick Lions will square off against the University Titans on Tuesday. Kennewick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Kennewick heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mt. Spokane. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Arianna Ames was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mayce Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, University made easy work of Central Valley on Friday and carried off a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kennewick's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for University, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Kennewick skirted past University 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
