Mathews lost to Ursuline back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Fighting Irish.

Mathews' win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Ursuline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

Coming up, Mathews will host Maplewood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Rockets a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Ursuline, they are taking a road trip to face off against Chaney at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cowboys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of.
