Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Loss

Hillcrest extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the Murray Spartans, falling 54-28. The Huskies were down 41-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest lost, don't look at Josie Haddock. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points and four steals. Haddock is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

As for Murray, they now have a winning record of 3-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Murray to victory were Grace Taeoalii and Brinley Forsyth. Taeoalii dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Forsyth went 7-for-16 en route to 17 points along with six boards and three steals. Those 17 points gave Forsyth a new career-high. Zella James was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Hillcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-34 loss against Highland on the 5th. As for Murray, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-43 win against Herriman on the 5th.
