League recap: Cass climbs in state rankings with win

Cass moved up to 140 from 291 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAA Region 7A. The Colonels were able to make the jump by beating Northwest Whitfield 25-17.

Pickens took down Heritage 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tanner Brumby threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 47 yards in the win.

The Dragons' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Shannon Brooks chipped in 102 yards. Tate Rizoti helped Pickens' passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.

Jake Coleman was the best wideout in the league this week as Pickens beat Heritage. Coleman tallied five receptions for 72 yards.

Pickens' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brumby has thrown for 378 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Coleman has seven catches for 159 yards. Brumby also leads the league in rushing with 257 yards.

Cass made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,770 from 7,820. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 25-17 victory over the Bruins last week.
