Basketball Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Comes Up Short

Wiregrass Ranch's tournament run continued when they took on St. Anthony on Friday. The Wiregrass Ranch Bulls fell just short of the St. Anthony Saints by a score of 83-81. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (61), the Bulls still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Wiregrass Ranch lost, don't look at Kj Smith. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 19 en route to 31 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Smith's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ajayden Jenkins, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

Wiregrass Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for St. Anthony, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Wiregrass Ranch will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wiregrass Ranch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 75.1 points per game this season. As for St. Anthony, they will venture away from home to face off against Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Anthony knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Bishop Montgomery likes a good challenge.
