Baseball Recap: Warren County Takes a Loss

Warren County extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brentsville District Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in April.

Jayden Christopher made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Warren County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Gavin Dodson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Brentsville District, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Brentsville District's side, the team relied heavily on Jeffery Cook, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Cook has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was David Moffett, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Warren County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-5 win against Skyline on the 10th. As for Brentsville District, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-1 victory against Meridian on the 15th.
