Basketball Recap: Vela Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Vela extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Jordan Bustamante. The Vela Sabercats walked away with a 65-54 victory over the McAllen Memorial Mustangs on Tuesday thanks in part to Bustamante, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jp Olivarez, who posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards he has posted since back in November.

Vela is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for McAllen Memorial, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Vela will head out to face off against McAllen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McAllen Memorial, they will host Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. McAllen Memorial is facing Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at the right time seeing as Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
