Football Game Preview: Pilot Point Bearcats vs. West Trojans

The Pilot Point Bearcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pilot Point, who comes in off a win.

Pilot Point is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Life Oak Cliff: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bearcats blew the Lions out of the water with a 62-21 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-14.

Josh Chumley produced another solid performance rushing for 120 yards and four scores on only 14 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashton Williamson, who rushed for 56 yards and one TD on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pilot Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 431 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times West and Whitney had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Trojans took a 41-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Pilot Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.7 points. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
