Basketball Recap: Front Range Christian Comes Up Short

Front Range Christian lost against Denver Academy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Front Range Christian Falcons were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 69-68 to the Denver Academy Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Front Range Christian still got an impressive performance from Haedan Morton, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and 26 boards. Morton has become a key player for Front Range Christian: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Harms, who posted 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Front Range Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

It was another big night for Riley Allen, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 assists for Denver Academy. Allen has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Chris Janssen was another key player, going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points.

Front Range Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points over those games. Denver Academy moved to 8-13 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Front Range Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-40 defeat against Dawson School on the 27th. As for Denver Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-51 loss against Clear Creek on the 27th.
