Softball Recap: Gulf Shores Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Gulf Shores barely beat Thomasville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dolphins never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dolphins considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Anna Leigh Price was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anna Murray was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Bjorgum, who earned two RBI and two runs.

Gulf Shores has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-14-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Thomasville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 25-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf Shores will venture away from home to face off against Fairhope at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dolphins 3.8, the Pirates 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Thomasville, they will take on Demopolis at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
