Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Homestead). They never let the Nicolet Knights get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The Highlanders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 19-0).
Homestead got a great performance from Brooklyn Wirth as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Wirth has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Anna Faucett was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Emmy Sehnert was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Homestead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Homestead's record now sits at 3-9. As for Nicolet, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
