Preview: Hampton Talbots vs. Mars Fightin' Planets
Hampton is 2-7 against Mars since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hampton Talbots will look to defend their home field against the Mars Fightin' Planets at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Hampton on the road against Indiana as the squad secured a 35-7 victory.
Meanwhile, Mars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 38-0 victory over Armstrong. The result was nothing new for Mars, who have now won six contests by 33 points or more so far this season.
Evan Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 132 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 49 receiving yards. Wright is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Their wins bumped Hampton to 3-5 and Mars to 6-2.
Hampton was able to grind out a solid victory over Mars in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 49-42. Does Hampton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
