May River had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Airport Eagles on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Sharks sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Caydon Swofford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits.
On the hitting side, Allie Belcher was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Berkley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
May River hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
May River pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Airport, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
