Softball Recap: Nipomo Gets the Win

While Nipomo's win against San Luis Obispo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 9-7. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Alyssa Van Muysen and Roxanne McLean did most of the damage at the plate: Van Muysen went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while McLean went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave McLean a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Quaresma, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Nipomo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Nipomo's record is now 10-6. As for San Luis Obispo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nipomo will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Orcutt Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for San Luis Obispo, they will challenge Templeton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
