Preview: Weddington Warriors vs. Cuthbertson Cavaliers
Weddington is 2-8 against Cuthbertson since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Weddington Warriors will be playing at home against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of three wins, Weddington's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 71-44 loss at the hands of Porter Ridge. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Weddington has suffered yet this season.
Weddington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caroline Clark, who scored 11 points along with three steals, and Mia Brosterhous who scored six points along with five rebounds. Clark hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Bergman, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Cuthbertson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Providence. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cuthbertson has scored all season.
Weddington's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Cuthbertson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Weddington couldn't quite finish off Cuthbertson in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 45-42. Can Weddington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
