Basketball Game Preview: Churchland Truckers vs. Hampton Crabbers

The Churchland Truckers will square off against the Hampton Crabbers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Churchland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Hampton likes a good challenge.

Churchland took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Denbigh by a score of 57-46. Given the Truckers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Patriots are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hampton took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 65-37 victory over Warwick. The Crabbers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 25 points or more this season.

Hampton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Churchland, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Churchland came up short against Hampton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 60-48. Can Churchland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
