Basketball Recap: Brookhaven Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Nicholas Gamble and Jamarion Cooper

Brookhaven has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the South Pike Eagles on the road by a 47-29 margin on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Eagles are ranked 145th).

Brookhaven's loss came despite strong showings from Jamarion Cooper and Nicholas Gamble. Cooper posted 12 points, while Gamble earned six points.

Brookhaven's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for South Pike, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookhaven will welcome South Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brookhaven is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), South Jones a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. South Pike and McComb will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
