Softball Recap: New Albany's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central Crossing, New Albany was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Dublin Coffman Shamrocks. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Maurina LaVoie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy White, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ava Bowersock, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

New Albany moved to 2-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Dublin Coffman, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Shamrocks beat New Albany by a score of 12-8 later that day.
