Basketball Recap: Streetsboro Skates Past Cloverleaf with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Streetsboro's strategy against Cloverleaf on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Streetsboro Rockets blew the Cloverleaf Colts out of the water with a 62-25 final score. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 31 points or more this season.

Streetsboro was led to victory by Naomi Benson and Olivia Johnson-Wilson. Benson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Johnson-Wilson went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Benson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Carlee Bedford, who posted five points and 13 boards.

Streetsboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Cloverleaf lost, don't look at Emma Hibler. Despite the final result, she earned four points and five rebounds.

Streetsboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Cloverleaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Streetsboro has already played their next match, a 38-30 victory against Canfield on the 8th. As for Cloverleaf, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-30 win against Coventry on the 8th.
