Softball Game Preview: Fallbrook Warriors vs. Montgomery Aztecs

The Fallbrook Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Montgomery Aztecs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Montgomery is headed out to face a Warriors team ready to give their home crowd a win. Fallbrook came up short against Helix on Tuesday, falling 11-0.

Montgomery came out on top against Monte Vista on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Aztecs walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Monarchs. The win continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won three in a row.

Gisela Acosta and Melina Carrillo did most of the damage at the plate: Acosta went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Carrillo went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Cardenas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

Fallbrook couldn't quite get it done against Montgomery when the teams last played back in February of 2025 as they fell 10-7. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
