Baseball Game Preview: Hill Falcons vs. Evergreen Valley Cougars

Hill hasn't had much luck against Evergreen Valley recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Falcons will take on the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Hill is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game last Thursday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Piedmont Hills.

AJ Meraz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Hill: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zach Calhoun, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Evergreen Valley lost 9-2 to Cupertino on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Noah Lara made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Hill's record now sits at 3-12. As for Evergreen Valley, their record is now 8-11.

Hill couldn't quite get it done against Evergreen Valley when the teams last played on April 3rd as they fell 5-2. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
