Basketball Recap: Natoma Comes Up Short

Natoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 67-41 to the Osborne Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 133rd).

Despite the defeat, Natoma saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lucy Alexander posted 15 points. Alexander is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. MaKayla Murphy was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Natoma was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Natoma's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Osborne, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natoma will head out to square off against Rock Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Hills will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Natoma surely won't give up without a fight. As for Osborne, they will head out on the road to face off against Stockton on Monday. Stockton's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Osborne's offense will have their work cut out for them.
