Softball Recap: Saegertown's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Saegertown faced off against Cochranton on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Cardinals, falling 8-0. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Hailey Obenrader put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Having lost for the first time this season, Saegertown fell to 2-1. As for Cochranton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saegertown will square off against Mercyhurst Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cochranton, they will face off against Reynolds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
