Russell came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Ignite Athletics Flames as they made off with a 6-1 victory. The result was nothing new for Russell, who have now won four games by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Ignite Athletics from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Gavin Grandinson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Russell's win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Russell will challenge Hurricane at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ignite Athletics, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ravenswood at 8:00 p.m. on September 2.
