Football Preview: McDonogh Eagles vs. Gilman Greyhounds        
        
		
             McDonogh has gone 7-2 against Gilman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further  on Saturday. The McDonogh Eagles will face off against the Gilman Greyhounds at 2:00  p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McDonogh has five straight  wins, Gilman has four straight  defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
 Last Saturday,  everything went McDonogh's way against Concordia Prep as McDonogh made off with  a  32-6 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 20  points or more this season.
 A big part of McDonogh's  win came down to the chemistry between  Braeden Palazzo and his top target  Jefferson Exinor Jr. Palazzo threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns while  Exinor Jr picked up 56 receiving yards and three touchdowns. What's more,  Palazzo also racked up 26  rushing yards, the most he's  had since back in October of 2023.  Cj Davis made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
 McDonogh didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as  Brandon Finney,  Davis,  Arik Darnell Brown,  and  Anthony Redfern picked up one apiece. Redfern also set a new season high mark in  total tackles with eight.
 Meanwhile, Gilman faced Calvert Hall in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Gilman lost  28-7 to Calvert Hall. It was the first time  this season that the Greyhounds let down their fans at home.
 McDonogh's victory was  their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Gilman, they now  have a losing record at 4-5.
 McDonogh strolled past Gilman when the teams last played  back in November of 2023 by a score of  21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for McDonogh since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
