Football Recap: Skidmore-Tynan Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Skidmore-Tynan's offense. They were outmatched by Refugio and fell 61-0. While losing is never fun, Skidmore-Tynan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1084th, while Refugio is ranked 214th).

Refugio had a senior duo take command as Ray Lewis rushed for 195 yards and one TD on only five carries and Zander Wills rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries. Wills is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Refugio also got help from Laytyn Garza, who showed off his sure hands for 126 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Skidmore-Tynan and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for Refugio, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Skidmore-Tynan will host Freer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Buckaroos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.88 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Refugio, they are taking a road trip to face off against Three Rivers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
