Baseball Recap: Center Line Comes Up Short

If Center Line was feeling good fresh off their 19-0 takedown of Mott on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers lost 8-1 to the Fitzgerald Spartans on Monday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Dylan Fenger was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. Austin Manley also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Center Line has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Fitzgerald, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Center Line will venture away from home to square off against Hazel Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Fitzgerald, they will head out to face off against Clawson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
